"Well, I brought some for you, either way," he says, dropping down next to her and setting his milkshakes down. "Thanks for the invitation. What're we watching?"
"I was thinking Sister Act? It's a comedy from my world. But I got some other options if you don't feel like that." She curls her legs up underneath her and grabs one of the milkshakes, shooting him a quick glance. "And. I just gotta say one thing. If you don't wanna talk about the pairing stuff, I won't bring it up again, but if you do wanna talk about it, you can. I'll listen."
"I'll watch anything," he shrugs, and takes up his own milkshake. At her words, he shrugs again. "I don't know what there is to say, except... now that I've thought about it a little, I think he's right. The Admiral."
He dips a fry into his vanilla shake, watching it.
"He told me that I'd basically come as far as I could with Bill. And it was more important that I be his friend than his Warden. And I... I mean, that's the thing, right? Maybe in this case, I can't be both. And Bill surely needs friends."
"Oh." It's a surprised, thoughtful oh, though not a skeptical one. "Huh. You know, I wouldn't've ever thought about it like that. I'm glad you're doing okay with it, Luke."
